re: Introduction to Core

INTRODUCTION TO CORE

Core is a semi-hard core end-game raiding guild. Therefore we recruit members who are able and willing to help Core at her current level of progression. This means level 90 toons that are geared at Core’s progression level. While we do not recruit non-raiders, we welcome all types and levels of players to the guild.

Core realizes that members like to play with friends and family who are not necessarily in a position to help Core’s raiding progression, but we want members to enjoy their time in the game with their friends and family members whenever possible. When a member joins Core who is not recruited to help Core progress, the member will not receive a raiding position. However, Core will always welcome family and friends to the guild as Casual rank. We are not a leveling guild though, and those seeking help in toon leveling need to join a guild designed for that process. Fortunately there are many activities outside of current content raiding that all members can enjoy together in an organized setting. Core provides that.

CODES OF CONDUCT

Core has made a name for itself by being a guild filled with good people. We have earned respect on the server by showing respect to others (even to those who may not deserve or return such respect). We place high value on honor in this guild, which means treating your fellow players with respect, whether in-game or in the public forums. Your actions and words reflect upon the entire guild and misconduct or disrespect of fellow players will not be tolerated. We want to establish and maintain a reputation for being a quality guild, full of helpful and knowledgeable members who are an excellent addition to any group or party…do your best to live up to these expectations.

The following are not tolerated and will result in disciplinary action or immediate guild removal:

(1) Racism, sexism, bigotry or promotion of real-life violence towards another person. This includes using racial slurs based on race, color, creed, sex or sexual identity.
(2) Harassment of fellow players, whether in guild or not. It’s up to you to be the bigger person. If a person is harassing you, use the appropriate channels (ignore them, report them to an officer, report them to a GM). Striking back often results in you getting banned as well as them.
(3) Unethical playing. Those caught using exploits, botting, hacking, ninja’ing, intentionally wiping a group or otherwise playing unethically will be removed from the guild.
(4) Spamming. Whether in general chat, guild chat, yells, team speak, wherever, spamming is annoying and is meant to disrupt the normal flow of conservation. Don’t do it.

Remember, that guild tag over your head makes you a representative of Core. Act the way you want Core to be remembered. If you want Core to be remembered by committing one of the 4 violations above, then you will be removed from Core.

INACTIVITY

We want our players to be active. Log in once a week to say hello. Players who are inactive for 30 days or more may be removed from the guild at any time. If you know you need a leave of absence, let an officer know so we can grant you that extra time. We don’t want to remove good players because they can’t play for a period of time, but we don’t need our roster cluttered up with non-active or abandoned characters either.

ALTS IN OTHER GUILDS

We all enjoy playing and leveling our alts. Core is not a leveling guild, and it's hard to get leveling help from all the toon-mature level 90s in the guild unless they happen to be bored. But we are home to many alts – currently over 100 alts of all levels so activity and companionship can be found for the asking. Just because leveling is not our focus doesn’t mean it’s not possible or enjoyable with Core. However it’s perfectly acceptable to level your alts in other guilds.

Core is selfish of your raiding main, though, and we want to be able to rely on your main on raid nights. For this reason, we ask that you inform us if you maintain raiding alts in other guilds so we can determine the degree of conflict of interest. For example, if Core needs your mage on Wednesday night in Throne and your other guild needs your Prot Pally in ToEs on Wedesday night – one guild is going to suffer since you cannot be in two places at once. And we don’t want Core to suffer.

GUILD QUITTING

We want you here. We aren’t gearing you up so just you can do bigger and better things – we are gearing you up so Core can do bigger and better things. So, if you leave, don’t come knocking when you learn that the grass is not greener in the raiding pastures of your new guild. We aren’t a revolving door. If you haven’t bothered to discuss with the GM your issues before leaving, don’t look for the welcome-back mat. If we learn you are applying to other raiding guilds you will receive a /gkick. Core is not in the business of gearing you up so another guild can become stronger for it. Nor are we in the business of gearing you so you can take the summer off. Please discuss your dissatisfaction/change of plans with your class officer and the GM. There is a good chance your issues can be resolved to your satisfaction. Give us the opportunity to do so.

LONGIVITY

Core has been in existence and raiding since November 2006. We have the stability, drive, infrastructure and foundation to last as long as WoW does. We have over 100 accounts and 220 members. We would welcome you to the group. Core prides itself on knowing how to be comfortable as well as knowing how to weather the toughest storms. We offer many ways to enjoy WoW - from progression raiding, help in building valor points, old content raiding, fixes for achievement junkies, help in adding to mount and pet collections. We dabble in it all. We hope you will choose to experience WoW through Core.
