Stand-by Policy

The Stand-by Policy is designed to provide a Core raid team with a pool of available and willing members that will allow the team to continue with minimal down-time. The system rewards those who make themselves available to raid with the same dkp as a member who actually in the raid – except for the points awarded for new, first time boss kills.

Standby does 2 things: it allows us to keep the raid moving with minimum disruptions when we have dc’s, illnesses, emergencies, etc. and it allows raiders the opportunity to earn dkp points if not physically in the raid.

Requirements for standby status:

(1) Notify Raganar (or Julise if Raganar is not available) that you want in the standby pool. This applies when you are not in the initial raid or when you are but are swapped out at some point in the raid. We do not assume you are in the stand-by pool.
(2) Remain in the raid vent channel during your standby period.

There are no exceptions to these 2 rules.

So if you are not in the actual raid during the 1st half, and you WANT to be earning points and considered for the 2nd half of the raid, adhere to the 2 above requirements. Or if you log in late and want to be considered for the night’s raid, join vent and have Raganar put you on the standby list.

We take a break between 9:00 and 9:30pm. Time varies based on raid momentum/progression. When you hear us announce break time in vent, log in to your raiding toon and bring him to the raid entrance. Your class officer will be whispering you regarding swap outs. We do NOT want to be using raid time waiting for you to log in and get to the entrance.

Otherwise, you don’t have to be logged in, you can run dailies, lfr, whatever you wish to do. Just be available in vent 100% of the time and and logged in, headed for the entrance when you hear break announced. We’re not trying to jerk you around, but the raid is King and we won’t sacrifice raid time for standby convenience.


Standby DKP:

You will earn the same dkp as someone in the raid with one exception. A NEW TO CORE boss kill gets 5 points. You have to physically kill that boss to get the 5 points. All will earn the 5 points when in for the kill. For example, those who participated in the first Jin’rokh kill earned a bonus of 5. Anyone who didn’t get those 5 points on that Tues because they were on standby will earn them when they first kill him. It’s a one-time bonus for all who see him die. An fyi, a repeat boss kill is worth 2 points, and those on standby also earn those 2 points.

What is expected of standby:

Treat standby as though you are actually in the raid, i.e. do not leave vent without prior notification. If you need to leave standby, tell Raganar you are off standby. If you want back on later, notify him that you are back and want to resume standby.

If someone sitting next to you is in the raid and on vent, and you are on standby – you still have to remain in vent if you want to earn standby dkp. You cannot ask us to ask him to ask you to join the raid if we need you in.

If computer issues are preventing you from raiding, then you cannot earn standby dkp. If you can’t raid because of lag, for example, you can’t have standby either. If you need to sit out to study then you cannot earn dkp from standby while you study.

Standby status means you earn dkp as though you are in the raid, therefore if you cannot raid, you cannot earn dkp sitting out of the raid.

If we discover you have left vent without prior notification, you will not earn any standby dkp for the evening.

Please does not abuse stand-by status. Those who do will no longer be allowed to earn it
