re: Loot Bidding Policy

BIDDING POLICY

Core maintains a silent bidding policy on loot earned by dkp. This means bids are received in whispers by the Master Looter and individual bid amounts are not announced. The Loot Master expects to see whispers of numbers. Such as 75 or100 or 101 or initiate interestred or interested but not enough dkp.

When the bidding process is active, this is not the time to discuss upgrade comparisons, or ask for dkp balances or ask for a few minutes to check Mr. Robot or to ask for a gem even or even to discuss he weather with the Loot Master. Save the non-bidding whispers till later.

If you DC as loot is being bid on and distributed, please, if possible, ask in vent to hold up on the bidding process. Sometimes you have dc’ed out of vent also and cannot communicate. It is never our intention to ignore those that dc right at loot distribution time. We will wait if we are aware of the issue. Sometimes we won’t be, and you’ll lose out. Core apologizes but it happens. You can bid next time it drops.

NOTE You are responsible for knowing your dkp balance. Do NOT bid more than you have available. It is not the Loot Master's job to know your dkp balance. If you bid more than you have and recieve the item, you will be restricted in future bidding and you will be charged the amount you bid thus will go negative. Most of the time once this issue becomes known, it's too late to recitify the situation.

When an item is offered up for bid, the Master Looter will announce WHO is bidding, but not how much. The Loot Master will make a last call on each item then the winner and the winning bid will be announced. The loot will be distributed to the winner. The next item will then be offered up for bid. We do not have bidding auctions – it’s a one-time bid process.

Bidding ties are settled by either:
(1) Rebidding higher on the item by each who tied
(2) Doing a /roll for those who tied and high roll wins for the tied bid amount
The preferred option is decieded upon by those who initially tied.

When all items have been distributed, the Loot Master will announce the bidding has ended. If you have any questions about the bidding process while it is ongoing, you are expected to direct your questions to an Officer, not the Loot Master. If the bidding process needs to be paused, the Officer will notify the Loot Master.

Bidding Rights

Core maintains a bidding hierarchy. It is as follows:

(1) TANKS HAVE DIBS ON LOOT
(2) Officers, Vets, Raiders have equal dibs on loot after tanks
(3) Ranks of Initiates and bullpen have equal loot rights AFTER tanks, officers, vets and raiders have passed on an item. Initiates and Bullpens will have priority with one another based on accumulated dkp. An initiate/bullpen who can meet the min 40kdp requirement will have loot dibs over one who cannot.

Bidding mentality:

The bid you submit for an item is strictly up to you. You have earned your bidding currency and it’s yours to spend as you see best. Some things that should be part of your decision process include:

(1) Know what you want BEFORE the boss hits the floor – don’t make impromptu decisions on your loot acquisitions – do your homework about which pieces you want to equip before the pieces drop.
(2) How much dkp do your competitors have? Check Bidder or the dkp link on the site to evaluate current balances.
(3) How much dkp do you have and how much is this item worth to you?
(4) It’s ok to change your mind and if you do, you need to return the item to the Loot Master or to an officer. You will not be charged for the returned item. You do not have the authority to give it to another raider or to de it.

All this sums up to be is: be prepared for loot drops –they’re published. Familiarize yourself with dkp balances – they’re published.

Bidding restrictions

(1) All items offered have a 40 dkp minimum bid. There is no ceiling.

(2) You can only spend what you have accumulated PRIOR to the current night’s raiding. Your dkp must be recorded on the website for it to be available to spend. Don’t ask if you can use the points you just earned in the past hour to apply on the loot drops from the next boss.

(3) We do not generally award items for offspec because the de mats are more valuable for crafted items for raiders than your non-raiding alt spec is. If an item will be offered for offspec, it will be announced prior to linking.

(4) Class restrictions: Just because it’s an upgrade in one stat or in ilevel doesn’t mean it’s best for the team to have you equip it. Hit items do not belong on healers – unless no casters need it. Agi rings don’t belong on pallies, strength necks don’t belong on rogues, etc.

(5) If a raid member cannot make the minimum bid, he cannot bid against anyone who can.

(6) If the Master Looter is going to bid on an item, he/she will assign in vent a different officer to receive the bids. You will not be expected to whisper your bids to anyone who is bidding on the same item you are.

(7) If NO ONE else is bidding on an item, and someone needs who has less than 40dkp, he can receive the upgrade for 40 and will then carry a negative balance. Negative balances are acceptable. However, one cannot bid against others with what one does not have. You cannot go into a store and expect to buy a $40 bottle of whiskey if you only have $25 in your wallet. Core will however grant you credit in certain situations. If NOBODY in the raid is bidding on that $40 bottle you can have it for your $25 and Core will grant you credit of $15. Your price is still $40. But you only had to pay a down payment of $25 and took an extension of dkp credit for $15. As long as you owe Core dkp, you cannot bid against anyone who is debt free. We do not extend credit so you can outbid a member who has enough in his dkp wallet to buy it. The only time you can have an item when you don’t have the dkp to pay for it is when the alternative is de’ing the item or you are bidding against others who also cannot pay the minimum. You cannot enter the competitive bidding process by asking for credit from Core so you can outbid your competition. The credit ONLY is given when there is no competitive bidding.

(8) If you are the ONLY bidder on an item and you bid 110dkp you will only be charged 40dkp. An item that only has one bidder interested will always be valued at 40dkp. Because you were willing to pay more is not relevant.

(9) Also, if 2x an item drops and there are 4 bidders then the top 2 bids will be awarded the items. If ONLY 2 bid on the 2 identical drops then each will receive one of the items at minimum bid.

Walk through of Bidding Process:

Master Looter links loot that drops off Jin’rock:

Julise: I am linking all items before we open the bidding process. She links 6 items.

(1) Julise: First item up for bids is a 1-handed strength sword: [Worldbreaker's Stormscythe]

This is the scenario for that sword:

DK 1 Wants the item and has 100 dkp.
DK 2 Wants the item, has 80 dkp and is an initiate.
Warrior 1 Wants the item and has 90 dkp.
Warrior 2 wants the item and has 15 dkp.

DK 1 whispers Julise: bid 71 dkp
DK 2 whispers Julise: bid 80 dkp
Warrior 1 whispers Julise: bid 75 dkp
Warrior 2 whispers Julise: interested

the winner of the item would be Warrior 1 with a bid of 75 dkp. DK 2 did bid more, but as an initiate loses the bid to the raider. Warrior 2 didn't get the item because 3 people who could make the minimum bid on it.

Julise announces that Warrior 1 has won the sword and sends it his way.

(2) Julise: Next item up for bid is: [Static-Shot Shoulderguards]

This is the scenario for those shoulders:

Enhance Shaman 1 whispers interested – is an initiate with 22 dkp
Hunter 1 whispers interested – is an initiate with 30 dkp

Neither can make minimum bid. The item is offered up for these 2 for a /roll. The shaman wins the roll and the shoulders are his. He now carries a negative dkp balance of -18. (22-40).

Julise announces Shaman 1 has won the bid and sends the shoulders his way.

HOWEVER had the warrior had a balance of 40 dkp, he would have won the shoulders and his balance would then be 0.

(3) Julise: next item up for bid: [Lightningweaver Gauntlets]

Priest 1 bids 80 (he’s shadow)
Priest 2 bids 90 (he’s holy)
Mage 1 bids 101

The items are awarded to Priest 1 and Mage 1 for 40 dkp each. This is because the healer is not eligible for hit gloves and only 2 who were eligible bid on 2 identical items. Core is not in the business of price gouging.

However, if more than 2 eligible raiders bid on the 2 gloves the scenario would have been like this:

Priest 1 bids 80 (he’s shadow)
Priest 2 bids 90 (he’s holy)
Mage 1 bids 101
Mage 2 bids the minimum of 40
Lock 1 bids 83

The items are awarded to Mage 1 for 101 and Lock 1 for 83. Priest 2 is still ineligible.
